Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
